Spotlight On: websites
Your association’s website is the key to how your stakeholders, media contacts and interlocutors view you, assess your credibility and sense of value and trust in your message.
Hexagon conducted an analysis of nearly 2000 industry, trade and member associations in the UK and Ireland. Yes, there are that many!
Here’s what we found:
43% of associations in the UK and Ireland have broken links and/or information which do not display properly on mobile devices. Such as:
Videos which don’t play on mobile
Websites that don’t load as intended on some browsers
Misaligned images and text
36% of associations analysed have identifiably out of date information presented as current on their website. This included:
References to the previous government (and the one before that!)
Mentions of Queen Elizabeth II and initiatives named in her honour
‘Upcoming’ awards, events and conferences dating back to 2021
Out of date COVID-era information on their website such as referencing to safe social distancing.
12% of associations in the UK and Ireland have typographical errors on their website, including in job titles.
